Chief of MPCD Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Devendra Subedi said the three have been found to be affiliated with the UCPN(Maoist), and they had also pledged allegiance to the Maoist party.

Preliminary investigations by police showed that Khatiwada was active in the party after joining it through the ANNISU-R. One of his hands has been amputated and he attributed this to an accident while making bombs during the conflict period. Police said he is general secretary of the war group, which has owned up the bomb plantings. Moktan also has been active in the Maoist party.
During the press conference, police did not disclose where the three was arrested but sources said they were staying in Balaju after planting the bombs. MPCD´s Pillar Four Team led by DSP Somendra Singh Rathour arrested two of them from Balaju Industrial Area Wednesday evening and the third was arrested Thursday morning.
Speaking to media after the program, Tamang conceded that the three were still active in the Maoist party and claimed that the war group does not have any members other than themselves. He confessed that they planted the bombs to exert pressure for peace and the constitution.

SSP Subedi said the three brought explosives from Nuwakot and, moving about by motorcycle, planted them in vehicles and at public places. Police recovered the bombs after the threesome told media about the plantings.
Police also recovered a bomb from in front of the KFC restaurant at Durbar Marga Thursday morning after failing to find any on Wednesday. SSP Subedi said the three also took responsibility for planting bombs in a bus (Ba 2 Kha 2019) in Nuwakot and another bus (Ba 2 Kha 4126) going to Dhading from Kathmandu.
Subedi said they had planted the bombs to extort money by terrorizing the public. “We can see that they had been planning explosions in the Valley,” Subedi stated.
