Three arrested for swindling Rs 3.75 million in foreign employment scams

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly scamming multiple individuals of over Rs 3.75 million with false guarantee of foreign employment opportunities. 

Officials deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office (KVCIO) arrested Ramesh Bahadur DC, 36, of Gurbakot Municipality-2, Surkhet, and Jai Bahadur Oli, 41, of Gangadev Rural Municipality-5, Rolpa, on Thursday and Rabin Karki, 38, of Thaha Municipality-2, Makwanpur on Wednesday.

According to the KVCIO, DC was arrested from Tarakeswar Municipality, Kathmandu, over allegedly scamming one individual Rs 1 million with false assurance of a job in Singapore while Oli was rounded up from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-31, for scamming Rs 600,000 from one individual with false guarantee of a job in Croatia.

Similarly, Karki was arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-2, for allegedly scamming Rs 2.15 million from one individual with false promise of foreign employment.

KVCIO’s spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Kaji Kumar Acharya informed Republica that DC and Oli have seen sent to Department of Foreign Employment and Karki has been sent to Bauddha Police Circle for further investigation.
