A primary teacher at Nepal Lower Secondary School in Khajuriya of Bara, Patel was kidnapped and shot dead on Saturday night by an unidentified group.
"We will continue our protest so long as murderers walk freely," said Devendra Giri, Bara district president of Nepal Teachers´ Union, which has been spearheading a series of protests against Patel´s murder, said.
The union has also called a day education strike in the Narayani zone. Police have not arrested any one in connection with Patel´s murder.
Five teachers have been killed in Bara district alone in the recent months by various armed outfits. Teachers say they are terrified due to different armed outfits´ threats.
"They (armed outfits´ cadres) keep on calling us on the phone demanding donations," a teacher said on condition of anonymity. "If we refuse, they will kill us."
