South Asian groups join hands for climate change

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Three organizations in South Asia are to work jointly for the study and research on water security surfaced due to increasing urbanization and global climate change and allied issues.[break]



Nepal Engineering College, South Asian Integrated Water Resources Management Consortium (SaciWATERs)and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology are to carry out three-year research project on water security and adaptation in Kathmandu, Hyderabad and Gudgaon in India and Khulna City of Bangladesh.



Professor Ashutosh Shukla of Institute of Engineering Pulchowk gave way information about this at a programme organised here today. International Development Research Center under the Canadian Government has agreed to provide physical, technical and academic support for the project, he said.



A four-day workshop will be held to formulate the action plan of the project by identifying the most vulnerable class to water security and technical and organizational aspects to minimize its impacts, informed Shukla.
