MUMBAI, Feb 7: Nepal will be without experienced fast bowler Sompal Kami in their opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup against England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
England won the toss in the Group ‘C’ opener and elected to bat first. Sompal has been rested for the match, with head coach Stuart Law opting to hand a World Cup debut to young pacer Nandan Yadav. Sompal previously represented Nepal at the T20 World Cups in 2014 and 2024.

Nepal have included two specialist spinners—Sher Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane—in the playing XI, underlining their spin-heavy strategy for the contest.
Two-time world champions England field a formidable batting line-up featuring Phil Salt, Jos Buttler and Harry Brook, with leading all-rounder Sam Curran also part of the squad.
England arrived in Mumbai on the back of a clean sweep in a three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. Nepal, meanwhile, warmed up for the tournament with wins over associate nations the UAE and Canada.
