- Gupta’s fast unto death enters fifth day
- Says fast will not end until demands are met
JANAKPUR, March 7: Chief negotiator of Samyukta Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Pawan Singh group), Sanjay Gupta, was admitted to Janakpur Hospital Friday night after he fell unconscious. Chief District Officer of Dhanusha, Shambhu Koirala, took him to hospital at around 11 after Gupta fainted. He had not consumed even water for four days. [break]
Gupta has been demanding that government probe into killing of his group’s politburo member Ramwali Chouhan in Kapilvastu 11 days ago and take stern action against police officers responsible for killing a leader of a group that is in dialogue with the government.
Meanwhile, the group’s members in various jails in central Tarai have started relay hunger strikes inside the jails demanding implementation of the agreement signed with the group a few months ago. As per the agreement, the government was to start process for releasing the arrested cadres and treat them as political entity. The Morcha was to reciprocate it by shunning violence.
