Sakchyam to support NRB to modernize payment system

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and Sakchyam have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the central bank for implementing the payment systems modernization program.



Issuing a statement, Sakchyam said that the MoU signed at the DFID Nepal office will help the central bank in the acquisition of Real Time Gross Settlement System(RTGS) and Central Securities Depository System(CSD), and other related elements along with strengthening the Payment & Settlement Department (PSD) of NRB.

NRB deputy governors Gopal Prasad Kaphle and Maha Prasad Adhikari, DFID Nepal Head Gail Marzetti, NRB's Executive Director at Payment and Settlement Department Mahesh Bhattarai , and Baljit Vohra of Sakchyam, among others, were present in the MoU signing ceremony.


"Sakchyam will provide necessary expertise required by NRB in strengthening the newly created Payment and Settlement Department," the statement added.
