President too raises army issue with PM

KATHMANDU, Jan 5: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav expressed his concern to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on the controversy over Nepal Army´s recruitment exercise during a regular meeting with the latter Monday evening, according Rajendra Dahal, press advisor to the president.

The president raised the issue on the day when Defense Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa said in public that the ministry has initiated action against army chief Rookmangud Katawal over the recruitment row. Former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala also expressed unhappiness with the PM today over what he felt unnecessary controversy over army´s "regular" exercise.



President Yadav also raised concern over appointment of new priests at Pashupatinath Temple, Dr Yadav was also dismayed at the defiance of the Supreme Court order by the government.
