DHANGADHI, March 12: Minister for Information and Communications and government spokesperson Shankar Pokharel on Friday said the peace process would not move forward if the government was denied information about the real number of cantoned Maoist combatants.

Addressing a press conference in Dhangadhi, Pokharel said the government must know the real number of the combatants for their integration and management. He said the government could not provide food, logistics and allowances for an ´invisible force´.

He said that it is sad to find United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) not playing clear role on the issue. He said the government would provide allowance for the month of mid-March-mid-April only those combatants who have identity cards with full details on it.
