Parties to settle differences over electoral laws within 3 days

KATHMANDU, May 26: The government and top four parties have agreed to declare the date of Constituent Assembly (CA) within next three days on Sunday.



A meeting of the top leaders  of the four parties and chairman of interim government council Khilraj Regmi held at latter’s official residence, Baluwatar this morning took the decision to this effect.



Top leaders of the main parties have sought three days’ time to forge consensus with agitating parties who have been expressing their reservation on the various provisions of the new election related law.



Speaking to the journalists after the meeting,Chairman of Terai Madhes Democrattic Party, Mahantha Thakur said, “The meeting reviewed the progress of the ongoing talks between the agitating parties and government talks team, adding that, “ the meeting stressed to declare the poll date through consensus after bringing the dissenting parties on board the election process.”



Meanwhile, the meeting has deferred the meeting of the high level political committee for Monday morning. Earlier, it was scheduled to be held this afternoon.
