NKF has finalized 12 teams for selection and training -- gold, silver and bronze medalists of the Sixth National Games, one teams each of -- siterio, waderio, gojurio and sotokan -- and teams of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and University team.
Altogether 278 players will be selected for the training from all teams and categories including men´s and women´s team kata as well as individual kata. Players for the men´s section will be selected for 50 kg, 55 kg, 60 kg, 67 kg, 75 kg, 84 kg, above 84 kg, individual kata and team kata catagories while those for the women´s will be selected for 45 kg, 50 kg, 55 kg, 61 kg, 68 kg and above 68 kg weight categories and individual and team kata.
"The program will help Nepal achieving its first ever Olympics medal," claimed NKF President Dawa Gurung.
Meanwhile, NKF also made public its annual calendar and estimated budget for the fiscal year 2070/71. NKF has estimated a budget of Rs 320 million for the new fiscal year . NSC funds, sponsors and internal resources have been mentioned as the primary source of budget.
NKF has included 24 programs in its annual calendar for the year. These include competitions in all 75 districts, seminars for coaches and referees, South Asian Karate Championship, Asian Open Karte, WKF Karate, among others.
