KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Pashupati Temple now will have all Nepali priests including Mul Bhatta (Chief Priest), Pashupati Area Development Trust officials said. “The Trust has accepted resignation of all the Indian Bhattas on Sunday and appointed two Nepalis in their place,” said Paramananda Shakya, member secretary of the Trust. “After performing some formal rituals, Nepali priests will take charge soon.” Breaking with centuries-old tradition of performing pooja of the national god through Indian priests, the PADT appointed Dr Bishnu Prasad Dahal of Nuwakot as priest of northern side of the temple and appointed Salik Ram Dhakal from Sindhupalchowk as priest of Basuki.
