KATHMANDU, June 13: UCPN (Maoist) Standing Committee member Barsha Man Pun has expressed serious doubt that the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) is sincere about preparing the first integrated draft of the new constitution by August 18.

He accused the NC leaders of putting forth unnecessary conditions with regard to expediting the constitution writing and peace process.[break]

"Besides taking major decisions in connection with advancing the peace process as per the five-point agreement and ending the dual security system for our party chairman and other leaders we took various other concrete steps but the NC, in a contrary fashion, decided to ready its party rank and file for a fresh movement," Pun said at the House meeting on Monday.

NC leaders´ demand for forming a state restructuring commission has raised suspicions that they are not sincere toward expediting the statute drafting process.

NC Chief Whip Laxman Ghimire accused the Maoist leadership of being reluctant to dismantle the paramilitary structure of the Maoist youth wing YCL and return to their rightful owners land and other property that the Maoists seized during the insurgency period.
