At the Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting on Saturday, the NC lawmakers have said that boundary of the provinces should be sorted out soon while the naming of the provinces could be done by the assemblies of the provinces concerned.
The preliminary draft of the constitution has stated to form a commission comprising experts to finalize the delineation of the states’ boundary within six months of the promulgation of the new constitution.
NC Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha said that NC lawmakers have made comments on the preliminary draft of the constitution. He added that the preliminary draft of the constitution would be made integrated by taking people’s suggestions within a week after sending it for the public opinions.
Likewise, NC lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada said that detail discussions were held in the draft of the constitution at the party PP meeting.
During the meeting held at the CA building, NC Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel said that the constitution writing process should not be affected either from the Supreme Court’s directive or from any others as the CA itself was a sovereign body in constitution writing.
NC Parliamentary Party leader and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, party senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula and other leaders were also present at the meeting. The next PP meeting of the NC shall hold at 8:00 am on Sunday. RSS
