A senior leader of the party said Gachchhadar faction will urge the central committee to endorse the parliamentary party decision to join the NC-UML alliance. Yadav faction, however, will question legitimacy of Gachchhadar’s move and ask Gachchhadar faction to respect the central committee decision.

To both the factions engaged in series of meetings throughout Monday to garner support from majority central committee members and lawmakers as rift widened. Party’s youth wing organized a patch-up party at Hotel Marsyangdi Monday evening but only a few of Gachchhadar supporters attended it.

Backed by majority lawmakers, Gachchhadar has said he would not back down. “Only way to keep the party united is Yadav-dominated central committee’s approval to what Gachchhadar did,” said a leader close to Gachchhadar.

Gachchhadar had cancelled the party’s parliamentary party meeting that was postponed till Monday without consultation with Yadav faction. The leader said that the meeting was cancelled ipso facto with majority lawmakers standing in favor of joining the UML-led coalition.
