Leaders at the meeting approved the recommendations resolving disputes on fundamental rights and directive principles, social and cultural solidarity and preservation of national interest.[break]
Earlier on Monday, a meeting of the 27-party mechanism had endorsed the provisions on citizenship as per the taskforce´s recommendation.
The mechanism is scheduled to discuss the provisions in the draft prepared by the Constitutional Committee (CC) at its meeting on Wednesday.
The 27-party mechanism had formed the taskforce with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as head and entrusted the body with the responsibilty to settle disputes in constitution writing. Of the total 210 disputes, the taskforce settled altogether 127 and submitted the report to the mechanism for endorsement.
After endorsing the recommendations, the mechanism is expected to start discussing the remaining 83 disputes.
After the endorsement from the mechanism, the provisions will again be okayed by the 601-member CA meeting before forwarding it to the CC, which is mandated to prepare an integrated draft of the new constitution by incorporating the reports of the CA´s 11 thematic committees.
