KATHMANDU, Dec 23: The UCPN (Maoist) has agreed to conclude the Special Session and present the proposals in the regular session in a meeting with Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.
CPN-UML senior vice-chairman Bam Dev Gautam said that Maoist has agreed to end the special session and present the proposals it has registered in the regular session."We also agreed that the Prime Minister will recommend the President to summon the regular session with in a week," Gautam added.[break]
Gautam was one of the participants of the three-party meeting held at the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction at Singha Durbar.
He also added that the parties would discuss formation of new government and Nepali Congress´ Ram Chandra Paudel´s candidacy for Prime Minister in later meetings.
The three-party signed a two-point agreement according to which the Maoist and six other fringe parties will speak at the special session ahead of a government representative and then the Maoists will withdraw it´s petition for special session.
Maoist not to withdraw proposals
Earlier, a meeting of office-bearers of UCPN (Maoist) on Thursday morning decided not to withdraw the proposals at the Special Session of Parliament.
Maoist, who demanded the special session along with four other fringe parties, have registered proposals related to the amendment of the regulations regarding prime ministerial election. Other parties have responded negatively to the proposals and had urged Maoists to withdraw them.[break]
The meeting also decided to propose term extension of UNMIN in the meeting of three main political parties.
“Other parties are positive about it,” Maoist vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said after the meeting. Although Maoists have demanded extension of UNMIN term, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress have put forward conditions for it while the government is in no mood to request term extension.
