BUTWAL, Feb 17: Dhruba Shankar Ghimire, the managing director of Namobuddha Investment Pvt Ltd that had been collecting Rs 50 to Rs 2,000 from commoners on a daily basis, has disappeared with Rs 4.6 million.

Ghimire had been collecting money from commoners here for the past nine months promising them to return their principal with interest in six months, after which the depositors would be entitled to take loan.

Ghimire, who left for Kathmandu on February 11 stating that he needed to make arrangements for computerizing the office, has remained out of contact. The fact came to light after depositors picketed the firm on Tuesday, after which employees had to inform the police.

The firm had 2,700 daily depositors.
