“Gautam has made off with over Rs 10 million but his assets are only worth about Rs 4 million. Locals have agreed to sell Gautam´s property and distribute it equally among the victims,” said the inspector Tek Bahadur Gurung.
“Gautam has been threatening the victims over telephone instead of paying back their money,” said Januka. The locals had lodged a police complaint against Gautam a week ago. But his whereabouts remain unknown.
“Gautam is freely moving in the village but the police have not been able to arrest him,” said Babulal Thing, a local.
Earlier, Gautam had agreed to sell his property to pay the victims. “He had signed a will and entrusted four locals with selling his property. But it is not possible for us to sell his property in his absence,” said Durga Bahadur Kunwar, Chairman of Jagatpur Market Management Committee.
