Talking to Republica Online, UCPN (Maoist) Vice-Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha said the discussion reached a conclusion that a new government under the leadership of any party is not possible and, therefore, further attempt will be made to agree on an independent candidate to lead the new government.

Both Shrestha and Sitaula have described the talks as being ´very positive´. The parties are now set to meet President Ram Baran Yadav later this evening and hold discussion over other issues including the new leadership of government. The latest deadline given by the president for the parties to forge consensus is expiring today. [break]
