Justice Bam has been accused of releasing the kidnappers of Dr Bhaktaman Shrestha on a low bail. [break]
Proceedings against Justice Bam would begin once a lawmaker with support from one fourth of the total parliamentarians in the House files an impeachment motion at the parliament secretariat. The Speaker is required to present such a motion in the House within seven days.
According to Spokesperson for parliament Mukunda Sharma, the House will then form probe committee comprising a maximum of 15 members.
The probe committee will have 21 days to find facts. The term of the probe committee can be extended by seven days for once.
As per the constitution, two thirds of the total parliamentarians´ vote is needed to pass an impeachment motion.
