VMH had raised questions on the outfit the actress of the film Rekha Thapa wore in a dance sequence – a yellow colored cloth, often carried by Hindu mendicants that reads ‘Hare Ram Hare Krishna’ and ‘Om Nama Shivaya.”
The three-minute dance number, shot at a river bank glamorized the religious attire and created much hullabaloo amongst the Hindu devotees last week.
Chabi Ojha, one of the producers of the film and the better-half of the actress had sent an apology letter to VHM a few days back.

The response letter from VHM that Ojha received on Sunday afternoon reads, “Your film Hifaajat drew our concern and attention after we came to learn that the actress in the film had used traditional Hindu attire glamorously. On learning that, we (the members of VHM) sat together to watch your film. Having seen the dance number, we definitely need to thank you for popularizing the traditional Hindu attire even in today’s time when the young generation has almost forgotten it. In the meantime, we were deeply saddened to see how the dress was glamorized and was used for a wrong purpose. But as the production team has already apologized and promises not to repeat such mistakes in future, we take back all our charges and wish for the success of your film.”
“Furthermore, we look forward in helping each other to popularize Nepali and Hindu tradition through cinema. We request you to use your medium (cinema) as a powerful device to protect our culture and tradition,” sincerely – Maha Maya Prasad Singh, vice secretary, Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh.
