KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Nepali rupee gained 1 paisa against US dollar this week as the Indian currency, with which rupee is pegged, gained value against the greenback. Gold price, on the other hand, increased by Rs 345 per 10 grams.CURRENCY
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central regulatory bank, had opened currency trading on Sunday with value of dollar fixed at Rs 106.65.
Rupee lost 12 paisa against on Monday to settle at 106.77 against US dollar. However, rupee gained 29 paisa on Tuesday to close at 106.48 against greenback. On Wednesday, the local currency lost 6 paisa against US dollar to settle at 106.54, but gained 2 paisa on Thursday to close the day's trading at 106.52. The local currency lost 12 paisa against the greenback on Friday to close the week's trading at 106.64.
Meanwhile, rupee lost 51 paisa against euro and 84 paisa against Pound Sterling over the week. A euro was exchanged at Rs 120.77 on Friday, while the Pound Sterling was valued Rs 165.45.
BULLION
Gold price went up by Rs 345 per 10 this week. Trading on Sunday with price of gold fixed at Rs 42,780 per 10 grams.
On Monday, price of gold came down by Rs 125 per 10 grams to Rs 42,655. Though price remained unchanged on Tuesday, price of the yellow metal fell by Rs 45 per 10 grams to Rs 42,610 on Wednesday. Gold price went up by Rs 385 per 10 grams to Rs 42,995 on Thursday. The price increased by another Rs 130 per 10 grams on Friday to close the week's trading at Rs 43,125.
Meanwhile, price of silver went up by Rs 8.5 per 10 grams this week. Silver was traded at Rs 600 per 10 grams on Friday.
