Talking to myrepublica.com over phone, Goit said, “I appeal to mediapersons, human rights activists, security persons and politicians to uproot the criminal gangs that are disposed to committing crimes against media persons, who are guarding the nation from slipping into darkness and are defending human rights.”
Meanwhile, Janakpur-based journalists have continued their sit-in at the District Administration Office, Dhanusha for a third day on Wednesday. They had announced a three-day strike on Monday, a day after Singh was murdered in cold blood at her rented home in Janakpur.
To mourn the killing, all FM radios in the town have aired just mourning tunes and news related to Uma Singh for the last three days.
Though the three-day strike ends Wednesday, the journalists said they will continue with the sit-in demanding that slain Singh be declared a martyr, the perpetrators brought to book, adequate compensation be provided to the next of kin and security guarantee to all journalists across the country.
