Most of his supporters were in T-shirts with the logo of Shiva Sena, the Hindu outfit, which has been calling for restoration of Nepal as a non-secular Hindu nation.
The reception also included a band and sloganeering by his supporters calling him for his comeback to the throne. He is currently staying in the local Rubas Hotel.
Now he will be holding meetings with his well wishers later in the day. He is scheduled to visit the Mahendranagar-based temple of Siddhanath Baba on Friday and will take part in a religious ceremony at Nainadevi temple in Dhangadi on Saturday.
Likewise, Shah will visit the Ghodaghodi temple in Kailali on Sunday before returning to Kathmandu the same day, wrapping up his longest-ever visit to this region.
