The cold wave has adversely affected freed Kamaiyas (previous bonded labourer), workers and school students.
Winter crops including mustard, potato and tomato cultivated in the district will also be affected if weather here remains foggy with cold wave for a few days ahead, said agriculture technicians.
In Kailali, the cold wave used to start from December in the previous years but this year it has started late.
People have been facing trouble when woods are not made available to warm themselves huddling up the fire with the rise on chill.
The ever highest degree of cold has been felt in Kailali this year, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The maximum temperature here on Tuesday was recorded 13.6 and minimum 3.9 degree centigrade.
The cold increases when the difference between maximum and minimum temperature shrinks.
