“The appointment of the sitting chief justice as the prime minister will not only make us ashamed in global arena but also deride century-old ideology of separation of power, rule of law and fair judiciary,” the statement reads.
The move will further deepen legal crisis in the country and push the country to impunity and authoritarianism, the statement further adds.
The statement demanded that the parties halt such a move at the earliest and expressed its confidence that the unconstitutional move will not be approved by the president.
The lawyers have also asked the chief justice to express its deep concern over the issue.
