The inaugural session of the conference is over and the working session is in progress now.
"The support would be provided on the basis of bilateral interest and discussion, and after determining the areas of cooperation and priorities," Foreign Minister Wang said while talking to media persons after meeting with the quake-survivors who were taking refuge at Tundikhel in Kathmandu today.
Chinese government had provided some 165 sets of tarpaulin sheet after few days of the quake. The tarps were used to set up tents at the place 13,350 persons were recorded to have stayed initially at one of the largest grounds in the capital city.
The number of people taking refuge here currently stands at 1,488. Some 459 families across 51 districts are recorded to have taking shelter here.
Stating that Nepal and China have been sharing friendly ties like the brothers of the same family, Wang expressed that China would not interfere in the internal affairs of Nepal.
Chinese government has pledged support worth Rs 1 billion at the first round for the reconstruction, which according to Wang, would be spent on construction of shelters for the quake-displaced persons.
He added that a high-level Chinese team would soon visit Nepal following the Conference and would discuss about further Chinese aid with the Nepalese counterparts for the same.
Chinese government primarily has identified the reconstruction of the physical infrastructures, especially of those with cultural and historical importance and public facilities as its areas of cooperation, according to the Chinese Foreign Minister.
Recalling the Chinese support for the search-and-rescue operation and relief distribution following the devastating quake, Wang shared his confidence that Nepal would garner support from the international communities which would lay foundation for the reconstruction of the quake-ravaged physical infrastructures here.
Wang Yi, after talking to a quake-hit Nepali student Shristi Panta who was one of the temporary residents at Tundikhel, promised to increase the current scholarship quotas in view of supporting the quake-hit students. RSS
