The new office chief, Ananta Basnet, reported to work on Wednesday. Two people who were appointed as chiefs of the border administration office by the Ministry of Home Affairs did not report to work.
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Solukhumbu District, Sitaram Karki, said that since Basnet has already reported to work in the capacity of Section Officer, authority would be delegated to him for the distribution of citizenship certificates and other administrative works.
People of three VDCs in the remote northern belt of the district had been facing problem acquiring various administrative services due to the absence of the border administration office chief at Namche. The district headquarters, Salleri is four days´ trek from Namche.
