KATHMANDU, March 7: The two-day local casting event for “It’s My Time” organized by United Colors of Benetton at Durbar Marg, Kathmandu recorded a huge turn out on its first day. By 2 pm, 40 individuals had already participated in the photo shoot and recorded their individual videos.[break]

Maia Ruth Lee, the casting director said, “We are happy with the turn out and hope the number will increase by tomorrow.” She saw some interesting and promising participants and mentioned the names of three individuals. Siblings Nirab and Neha Rimal sang along and recorded a video while model Reena Adhikari recorded a perky video.

Some foreigners also turned up for the event. Bernhard Miller and Nills Klein, both Germans, participated enthusiastically in the shoot and recorded funny videos.

The videos and photographs will have to be uploaded by participants at casting.benetton.com. As part of the ”It’s my time: Global casting competition” 20 new faces worldwide will be chosen to fly to New York to take part in the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2010 campaign.

Entries are pouring into Benetton’s site from thousands of individuals worldwide. To take part in the competition, individuals will have to upload their photos and videos at Benetton’s sites—benetton.com and casting.benetton.com—and be voted to find their way into the 100 finalists.

While the 100 finalists will receive gifts from Benetton, the 20 faces will be chosen by a jury comprising Executive Deputy Chairman of the Benetton Group Alessandro Benetton, Fashion Photographer Josh Olins and Casting Director Brice Compagnon. The shortlisted 100 individuals will be announced on March 16 and the 20 lucky winners on March 18.

Aakriti Giri, 20, a regular customer at Benetton and student of Information Technology at Himalayan White House College shared her experience of the event, “I found the shoot interesting. I don’t know if I will make it but I had fun.”

Eliza Shilakar, 16, a 10th grader at Tyoudea Secondary School, also participated in the event. She said, “I was quite nervous because I had never participated in a shoot but I enjoyed it, nonetheless.” If you think you have an original style, don’t hesitate to head to United Colors of Benetton’s outlet at Durbar Marg for a unique experience. The casting will continue today from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
