DADELDHURA, June 15: Normal life in the Far-Western Region has been affected on Monday due to a banda called by cadres of the Unified CPN (Maoist).
The Maoists had announced phase-wise agitation across the nation In protest against President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s move to reinstate Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal and for upholding civilian supremacy in the country.
Vehicles plying on long and short routes stayed off the road, and educational institutions and markets remained closed in response to the banda call. Man Singh Mal, member of Seti-Mahakali State Committee, said offices, schools, markets and traffic in all the nine districts of the far-west were closed.
Bharat Ghanuk Pukar, Dadeldhura in-charge of the Unified Maoist´s sister organization said they would continue the protest till the president makes a public apology correcting his ´unconstitutional´ move.
