KATHMANDU, April 12: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) declared national football team captain Sagar Thapa the Excellent Player of The Year, on Friday. With the title, Thapa has been awarded an apartment in Kathmandu.
UCPN (Maoist) Chariman Pushpa Kamal Dahal handed over a dummy of the apartment to Thapa amidst a program organized in the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) complex, Lalitpur today. [break]
Thapa was appointed the national team captain during the 2009 qualifiers of AFC Challenge Cup. In his first match as captain, Nepal played Kyrgyzstan a 1-1 draw at home.
Thapa, who marked his debut for the national team in 2003 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Incheon, South Korea, against Vietnam, has also achieved the 50th match milestone in national jersey playing against Pakistan earlier this year.
