Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has finally won his first Oscar for The Revenant, after six nominations.

He was named best actor at the 88th Academy Awards on Monday, with Brie Larson named best actress for Room. Spotlight took home the best picture Oscar with Mad Max: Fury Road picking up the most awards of the night, with six accolades.

Vice President Joe Biden introduced singer Lady Gaga at the Oscar's, using his time to draw attention to the issue of rape, urging watchers to "intervene in situations when consent has not or cannot be given."
