KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has increased load-shedding to 74 hours starting Wednesday due to rapid decrease of water level in rivers.

As per the new schedule to be effective from Wednesday, there would be 11 hours of load-shedding for four days and 10 hours for the rest three days every week.

The NEA had increased power outage time to 56 hours a week just a fortnight ago on December 15 from 38.5 hours being at place till then.[break]

Energy Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat had earlier on December 13 warned that load-shedding hours could climb up to 14 hours a day during the period between February 13 and March 14 next year due to reduction of water levels in rivers.
