If you are a radio enthusiast, you will definitely have listened to Sabeena Karki’s shows. Sabeena is a well-known radio personality whose sweet voice and engaging personality has won her fans from all over the country who listen to her shows without fail.

The charming radio host divides her professional time working as a lecturer, communication consultant, professional emcee, and also actively participates in social initiatives. “I love what I do,” she says simply.

She is an ardent devotee of Lord Ganesh

“I’ve been praying to Ganesh ji ever since I was a young girl. I feel He is very lucky for me and I try to go to the temple every Tuesday to offer my prayers to Him,” she says. Having said that, she quickly adds that she does not hold fast on Tuesdays to appease the elephant-headed God. She says, with a laugh, “I love food and that’s why I’ve never ever attempted to fast.”

She dislikes wearing black

Even though she used to wear a lot of black earlier, she prefers brighter colors in her wardrobe these days. “They say black is ‘the’ color, but for me, it is anything but black,” she says. When asked how this fondness for brighter colors came about, she replies that it is probably to do with her marriage three years ago. “Since my marriage, I feel more inclined towards colorful clothes and accessories,” she says, with a laugh.

She has a phobia about driving

Sabeena bought a scooter around 15 years ago, learnt to ride it and also got her license. However, she has a deep irrational fear of driving which means she calls herself “an occasional driver.” She says, “I panic a lot when I step onto the streets. I only ride my scooter or drive the car as an absolute last resort. I can’t explain why I have this phobia about driving but I do.”

She is fascinated with podcasts

You can now listen to the radio personality’s podcasts in case you missed her on-air. She has taken to making podcasts since the last three months and they’re quite popular. She explains, “My friend Andy introduced me to podcasts and I thought they were the perfect way to expand my listenership to an international level.”

She enjoys making short videos

Another interesting hobby of hers in the recent times is shooting short videos to upload to her Facebook page. Sometimes she captures the nearby tea seller and other times her videos show her hosting her radio shows. The first video she uploaded was a snippet of her hosting the show which became so popular with her fans that she has continued to shoot more videos.
