10 die in Ramechhap bus accident

RAMECHHAP, Sept 18: At least 10 people were killed and over a dozen injured when a passenger bus (Ba 4 Kha 5248) en route to Gothagaun VDC from Manthali met with an accident at Jugepani in the district on Friday evening.

As per an eyewitness, Som Bahdur Thapa Magar, the bus plunged some 100 meters down the road.Six of the deceased have been identified as Bhim Bahadur Budhathoki, Hem Bahadur Thapa and Masini of Gothgaun VDC, Dil Kumari Ale Magar and Man Kumari of Manthali municipality, and Jit Jang Mahat of Bijulikot VDC, according to DSP Manoj Kumar Pariyar of District Police Office (DPO), Ramechhap.

The injured passengers have been rushed to a hospital in Manthali, headquarters of Ramechhap, according to the police involved in the rescue efforts. The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical, as per the doctors.

The bus was carrying more than 50 passengers.
