KATHMANDU, April 1: Renowned publisher and journalist Barned Toet, known for his extensive experience in international journalism, emphasized the importance of thought-provoking writing and research-based reporting during a special session at St Xavier's College.

Toet, with a career spanning over fifty years and contributions to various prominent media outlets worldwide, spoke about the decline of intellectuals in journalism when reporters fail to engage deeply with societal issues and inequalities.

As the Editor-in-Chief of NEPALCONNECT, a platform bridging foreigners interested in Nepal and the Nepali diaspora, Toet stressed the significance of thorough research in building meaningful connections with the audience.

Chun Bahadur Gurung, lead of the Faculty of Journalism at St Xavier's College, expressed gratitude for Toet's interactive session with journalism students, noting its impact on sensitizing aspiring reporters to audience engagement strategies. The event, which included a meet-and-greet with Fr Dr Boby Joseph, S.J., Director of Loyola Campus, provided valuable insights into the evolving landscape of journalism.
