Nagarik Unmukti Party wins federal parliament seat in Kailali-3

KAILALI, Nov 22: Ganga Ram Chaudhary of Nagarik Unmukti Party has won a seat in the House of Representatives from Kailali electoral constituency-3. Chaudhary is the father of the infamous Resham Chaudhary, who is currently serving jail term for killing police personnel in the Tikapur carnage in 2015. 

Ganga Ram Chaudhary defeated his nearest rival Krishna Kumar Chaudhary of CPN (Maoist Centre), who was competing in the election on behalf of the left-democratic alliance, by a huge margin.  Chaudhary of Unmukti Party obtained 23,120 votes while the CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate garnered 17,749 votes, according to Election Officer Laxmi Narayan Dahal. 

Gauri Shankar Chaudhary of the CPN (UML) finished the race third with 9,874.

A total of 63,740 votes were cast in the constituency during the voting held on Monday while the number of valid votes was 59,719.

With the completion of vote count for the HoR poll, now the counting for the Province Assembly is underway in Kailali-3. Vote counting in the other four constituencies in the district continues. (RSS)
