President Paudel urges Germany to help lift ban on Nepali airlines in Europe

KATHMANDU, June 19: President Ram Chandra Paudel has urged the German government to help lift the ban on Nepali airlines in European Airspace. President Paudel made the request to his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his visit to Germany. Informing the media about the President’s visit to Switzerland and Germany at the Tribhuvan International Airport after returning home on Wednesday morning, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal said that during his visit to Germany, President Paudel requested his German counterpart to resume the service of Lufthansa Airlines in Nepal and lift the ban on European airspace.

While he visited Germany, he participated in a bilateral meeting with German President Steinmeier and discussed development co-operation, trade, investment, tourism, and business training focusing on all aspects of the Nepal-German bilateral relations.

Similarly, during his visit to Switzerland, he met President Biola Emhart and discussed different aspects of Nepal-Switzerland relations. The discussion centered on the Nepal-Switzerland development aid, high-level visit exchange programs, expanding cultural and people to people contact along with all aspects of the bilateral relations. They also discussed the prospects of investment in agriculture, energy, and sustainable tourism as well as fighting  against the negative effects of climate change.

Switzerland’s president was satisfied saying that Nepal was moving on the path to prosperity. Secretary Lamsal said that during the meeting with the presidents of both the countries, President Paudel formally extended an invitation to them to visit Nepal.
