Four promoted to Secretary

Tirtharaj Dhakal, Acting Chief Secretary, Province 5, Ananda Raj Dhakal, Joint Secretary, OPCM, and Kedar Neupane, Joint Secretary, MoHA have been promoted to Secretary. Likewise, Rammaya Kunwar has been promoted to Secretary of Nepal Auditing Service.

Unidentified group detonate bomb at Deuti tobacco factory

An unidentified group on Thursday morning detonated a bomb at Deuti Tobacco factory in Lamkichuwa municipality-1 of Kailali. According to the Area Police Office, Lamki, the bomb was detonated at around 5:00 am in the morning outside the wall of the factory. It led to some damages on the wall and roof of the factory informed Inspector Surendra Prasad Joshi, Chief of Area Police Office Lamki.

Janakpur-Jayanagar rail service undergoes test operation

In an optimism of resuming the operation of Nepal's only rail service (Janakpur-Jaipur), the test operation was complete on Wednesday. The Indian side undertook the test to resume the operation of the train service, which has remained completely standstill for the last four years.

Only 13.2 percent of the world's ocean waters are still in their natural 'wild' state and remain unspoiled by human activity, according to a new report.Kendall Jones, author of the report published in science journal Current Biology said: "We were very surprised by how little is left of marine nature. The ocean is immense and covers more than 70 percent of our planet, but we have managed to significantly affect almost all of this vast ecosystem."

Third strong earthquake shakes Lombok as death toll tops 300

The Indonesian island of Lombok was shaken by a third big earthquake in little more than a week Thursday as an official said the death toll from an earlier quake had topped 300. The strong aftershock, measured at magnitude 5.9 by the U.S. Geological Survey, caused panic and damage. It was centered in the northwest of the island and didn’t have the potential to cause a tsunami, Indonesia’s geological agency said.
