KATHMANDU, May 9: A study conducted recently has shown that the number of women journalists covering foreign affairs and security is dismal in Nepal even as there is significant participation of women journalist in Nepali media.

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: With the increasing trend of digitalization across the country, problems such as online violence are on the rise. It has become easy for people with ill intentions to post rude comments or send unwanted messages to victimize people, especially women. The case in Nepal is still worse as there are no relevant laws in place to tackle online violence.

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: A study launched today by Media Action Nepal has concluded that Nepali media give less priority to issues of women and people with different sexual orientations. The research report titled 'Gender Sensitivity in Nepali Media' found that newspapers and online media in Nepal have not published gender issues as a matter of public importance.

Women journalists say that their Facebook and Twitter inboxes are filled with ugly messages soon after they put forth 'different views'

Neha Dixit, an independent, award-winning journalist, was alone when she heard someone try to enter her first-floor home in Delhi on January 25, 2021. She assumed that it was her filmmaker husband at the door, but still called out ‘Kaun hai?’ (Who is it?) a few times before opening the door. A whiff of air confirmed that someone had been there, even though she did not see anyone or hear any footsteps.
