Tourists hiking in Nepal's Himalayan mountains are being pressured into costly helicopter evacuations at the first sight of trouble by guides linked to powerful brokers who are making a fortune on "unnecessary rescues", industry insiders say.

KATHMANDU, April 4: The government has started to formulate a new law to restrict 'unnecessary foreign junket' of civil servants. The move is aimed at controlling rampant foreign junkets of bureaucrats causing loss of billions of rupees from the state coffers each year.
