DODHARA CHANDANI, Dec 6: The expansion of Majhgaun Airport in Kanchanpur district has not made any headway due to land acquisition problem.

KANCHANPUR, July 30: The number of tigers in Shuklaphanta National Park has doubled. The number of spotted tigers has increased to 36 including 16 female, 12 male and eight whose gender is not yet known, according to Acting Chief Conservation Officer of the Park Office, Manoj Iyer.

KANCHANPUR, Jan 2: Water birds census has been started from Saturday in Shuklaphanta National Park and other areas. The census is being conducted in the lakes and rivers inside and outside the park. The counting will continue till January 16.

MAHENDRANAGER, Dec 1: As many as 2,473 families displaced during the expansion of the Shuklaphanta National Park (SNP) in Kanchanpur district have been waiting for a permanent solution to their pressing problem - lack of legally registered houses.

KANCHANPUR, Oct 21: The Shuklaphanta National Park will provide relief to the families of 55-year-old Dhwaj Bahadur Karki and 45-year-old Mathura Karki of Shuklaphanta Municipality-12 Dilashani Tol who lost their lives in elephant attacks. The families of the deceased will be provided a relief amount of Rs 1 million each.

KANCHANPUR, Oct 3: Residents of Shuklaphanta Municipality have been staying awake all night to chase away the herd of wild elephants. The elephants have entered from Shuklaphanta National Park and started eating rice and paddy and causing damage.

MAHENDRANAGAR, Sept 16: As a small kid, Mohan Negi of Majhagaun village used to see huge wake of vultures fighting around the carcasses of dead animals. He reminisces that these vultures used to very big. He used to get very excited observing these vultures. “I would consider them mightiest among birds; they were so energetic and passionate,” he reminisced.

KANCHANPUR, July 25: Shuklaphanta national park has reported zero poaching after hidden cameras were installed at various places inside the park. Such cameras have been installed at more than two dozen places with high possibility of poaching.
