Three years after the Gorkha earthquake devastated 32 districts of the country, Tatopani, in Sindhupalchowk has become a ghost town. Until other entry points connecting China was opened, Tatopani served as the only trade route between the two countries.

However, trenches around villages of Rolpa district that were dug during the armed rebellion still take the residents down memory lane of the guerilla warfare, in which the state, rebels and the general public had suffered heavy casualties.
