KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Nepali Hindus are observing Janai Purnima festival across the country today. It falls on Shrawan Shukla Purnima every year.

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: The twin festivals of 'Janai Purnima' and 'Rakshya Bandhan' are being observed across the country today. The festivals are basically observed by the majority of Hindus in the country.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 27: On Saturday, Dinesh Patel of Gaur Municipality-4, Rautahat, was preparing for Rakshya Bandhan, the festival which celebrates the bond and trust between brothers and sisters. He was waiting for his sister Runadevi to return to her maternal home from Ishnath Municipality-3, which is around four kilometers away. She had set off for her maternal home on Saturday evening with her youngest son.

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Janai Purnima has a close tie with strings. Every ethnic group that observes the festival carries diverse religious beliefs. However, each division has a common point of unification – the scared threads.
