Stemming power leakage

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has made significant progress in reducing electricity leakage over the past year. According to NEA's reports, the overall electricity leakage has dropped to 12.59 percent, a decrease of 2.79 percentage points from the previous year. This achievement is a result of the NEA's aggressive campaign to curb technical and non-technical losses in the system.

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reduced the power leakage during distribution to 7.49 percent in the first five months of the current financial year (FY) 2079/80 BS. As a result of regular campaigns conducted for electricity supply and technical and non-technical leakage control, the authority has reduced the accumulated leakage during distribution by 1.74 percent this year compared to last year's December. Last year till December, electricity leakage during distribution was 9.23 percent. In the last financial year 2078/79 BS, the overall electricity leakage during distribution was 10.86 percent.

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is planning to sign performance agreement with its staff to control power leakage and bring improvements in the service delivery and customer service.
