Save the pangolins

Pangolin, the world’s most trafficked mammal, is shy and nocturnal in nature. It curls-up and becomes stationary when it sees other animals, humans or any objects. Usually at dark, because of its peculiar behaviors, there have been increased incidents of pangolins being stumped by heavy vehicles likes trucks, where these vehicles travel round the clock to and from Katari through Lekhani of Udayapur district.

DOLAKHA, April 12: The unabated poaching and smuggling of the rare anteater pangolin has led to its disappearance from most parts of Dolakha.

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has nabbed two persons with endangered pangolin scales, commonly known as Salak, from Balaju in Kathmandu on Thursday.

CHARIKOT, Oct 9: Dolakha Police have arrested two people along with pangolin scales. Arjun Devkota, 23, and Saurabh Gole, 19, of Kamalamai municipality-3 in Sindhuli were arrested along with pangolin scales weighing 2.9 kilos.

MALEKHU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) team on Tuesday arrested three people in possession of banned pangolin scales at Adamghat of Dhading.

TIKAPUR, Oct 23: Villagers of Bhajani VDC of Kailali district recently found an endangered Indian pangolin and safely released the rare animal in the nearby forest. The locals said they were excited to see the endangered mammal in their village after a long time.

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Police have arrested two persons with pangolin scales worth Rs 150,000 and five horns of deer while they were trying to sell the animals parts.

BANEPA, Oct 19: One person was arrested by the police from Panauti of Kavrepalanchowk along with pangolin scales.
