POKHARA, Jan 3: A week-long 'Summer Ski' festival is being held in the Mardi Mountain region with the objective of promoting adventure tourism from February 10. The event is being organized by the Sustainable Himalayan Fund.

The lure of the wilderness and the mountains is never as strong as it is during this time of the year when someone we know is definitely out there trekking and posting pictures of it on social media. Next year, we promise ourselves. But something or the other holds us back: We’ve never gone on a week-long trek before or we don’t think we will be able to survive without city-life facilities.

As I was at the top, I experienced a different feeling which was the best feeling that I have ever felt in my life.

I left for Mardi Base Camp around the end of October last year, mainly to get away from all the hassles of life in Kathmandu. I had a friend with me and we started our trip from Pokhara that sadly didn’t feel as beautiful as it used to before. I thought Pokhara would refresh me ahead of my trip to Mardi but that wasn’t to be. However, the Mardi trek trail gave me just what I needed – the mountains, clouds and the endless sky made me forget all my worries. It was that blissful.

LAMJUNG, June 27: Construction of a concrete bridge over the Mardi River along the Beshisahar-Chame road section is being is being escalated to complete before the end of current fiscal year. Road Division Office (RDO) in Damauli confirmed the report.
