SALLERI, Feb 18: Two foreign nationals who had been here recently for visiting Khumbu region, Solukhumbu were confirmed to have died. According to the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, they are 42-year-old Elizabeth Dairo (Briton) and 26-year-old Wenshuo Dong (Chinese).

SALLERI (Solukhumbu), Jan 31: Most of the businessmen and locals of Khumbu, a major mountain tourism destination, have left the area to escape the biting cold.

SOLUKHUMBU, April 3: In less than two weeks, chief minister of Province 1, Sherdhan Rai, inaugurated the Khumbu-Pasang Lamhu road -- also known as the gateway to Mount Everest. The road links Salleri to Khari Khola of Khumbu Pasanglhamu-1 via Mapyadudhkoshi rural municipality.

But this year, snow came late and it was less than usual. Much to the surprise of the locals, snowfall was not even enough to cover the mountains surrounding the area.

SOLUKHUMBU, April 11: Flooded with tourists this season, hotels at Gorakshep and Lobuche in the Khumbu region of Solukhumbu are finding it hard to manage rooms for the tourists visiting the district. As a result, tourists are facing a tough time finding accommodation.

SOLUKHUMBU, July 20: Khumbu trekking route in Solukhumbu district that had remained obstructed for the past 10 days has now re-opened after locals cleared debris piled up as a result of landslides.

KATHMANDU, June 21: Everest Khumbu Judo Dojo has come into operation in Chaurikharka 1 of Solukhumbu.
