BARA, Oct 30: Rupesh Saraf, the principal of Bal Ekta English Boarding School in Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City-6, was shot at in Kalaiya.

BIRGUNJ, NOV 18: Two people have been arrested from Birgunj with fake ballot papers and Swastika stamps. The one arrested are Rajan Singh, 33, from ward-13, Birgunj Metropolis, and Amiri Raut, 23, from Kalaiya, Sub-Metropolis ward-13.

BARA, Jan 28: Kalayia Sub-Metropolitan City has started vacating the encroached pavements in Kaliaya market area starting Monday.   In order to keep   the city clean and beautify it by ending the encroachment of pavements, the sub-metropolis used excavators and also took the help of security personnel.

JANAKPURDHAM/KALAIYA, March 30: Five police personnel including Deputy Superintendent of Police Hem Shahi were injured in Bara on Saturday when a clash erupted between the students and police during the demonstration staged by the students in protest of leakage of the Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) question papers of several subjects in Rautahat and Saptari districts.
